Michael Joseph Nunez Sr. passed away quietly on Sunday, March 31, at Vacaville Convalescent and Rehab Center in Vacaville at the age of 94.
Michael's family would like to recognize the wonderful and nurturing attention given to Michael for the past three years by the staff at VCRC especially those who provided his daily care. May God Bless you all.
Michael was born on Sept. 1, 1918 in Valle de Allende, Chihuahua, Mexico to Miguel Nunez and Teofila Duran. He had eight siblings, Juan Evodio, Raul, Ted, Cecilia, Lupe, Severo, Miguel II and Guadalupe I.
He was married for 71 years to his loving wife, Esther Nunez. They had five wonderful children, Alice Nunez, Ann Jackson, Virginia Henderson, Michael Joseph Nunez Jr. and Edward Nunez. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Nunez served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a machinist for Southern Pacific Railroad until he retired. He was a long time resident of Leisure Town. He owned and operated restaurants in addition to his regular job at Southern Pacific for many years. Mike also enjoyed traveling to Mexico especially to visit family.
Services will be held on April 8, at 10 a.m., Holy Angels Funeral Center in San Pablo.
