A cryptside service for Antonio "Tony" Albacete, 88, of Vacaville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield. Entombment will follow in Fairmont Memorial Park, 1901 Union Ave.
Mr. Albacete passed away March 11, 2006, at the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento, following a five-year fight with Alzheimer's Disease.
Tony was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Spain. He came to the United States in 1953 to the state of Washington, where he worked as a sheepherder wanting a better life for him and his family. In 1957, he came to Vacaville to see his cousin, Mike, and a short time later would call this his lifelong home. He was employed 20-plus years at Basic, where he was in processing. He also did ranching and construction in the local area for many years. In 1959, he was able to bring his wife and son to Vacaville from the old country.
Mr. Albacete is survived by his daughter, Anita Kelly (Jim) of Vacaville; son, Mike P. Albacete (Vickie) of Vacaville; brother, Jose Albacete of Spain; grandchildren, Michelle O'Leary (Brian) of Benicia and Anthony and Emily Kelly of Vacaville; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Gillian O'Leary of Benicia.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville.
