Christine Mae Franklin, 60, of Vacaville, Calif., passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, June 3, following a five-year struggle with breast cancer.
Christine is survived by her son, Joel Lasher; daughter, Colene Spencer; their spouses, John Riggs and David Spencer, respectively; her grandchildren, Cole, Logan and Gaige Spencer, sisters, Janice Franklin, Kelly Marcotte and Tracy Webb; her two dogs, Megan and Oscar; and a large circle or friends and relatives who love Christine and will miss her dearly.
Christine had close ties to the community and was an active member of the North Bay Guild; Foxboro Elementary School, where her grandsons attended; and the North Bay Center for Women's Health, where she received the honor of "2011 Community Hero."
Christine had a great love of animals, in particular her rescue dogs, Megan and Oscar. She was a creative person who loved decorating and gardening her home. She loved the city and theatre and sharing good times with family and friends.
One of Christine's passions was traveling the world and experiencing different cultures. She was a strong, self-made professional businesswoman, who excelled in sales and marketing, but she always said that her children, Joel and Colene, were her proudest accomplishments. Her happiest moments were spent with her grandsons, Cole, Logan and Gaige.
Christine could light up a room with her infectious smile, great sense of humor and engaging personality that she will always be remembered by. She lived each day to its fullest and believed there was life after cancer. She became an advocate for breast cancer screening and the importance of mammograms, as well as a speaker and inspiration to others facing the same journey.
There will be a private boat service on the San Francisco Bay on Friday, June 17, followed by a private celebration of life with family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to: NorthBay Foundation with the notation "Christine Franklin Memorial, 4500 Business Center Dr., Fairfield, CA 94534-6888, online: http://foundation.northbay.org/give.html.

Although Christine and I attended De Anza High School I didn't know her then. It wasn't until many years later that we met through a mutual classmate. I'm so thankful we got to meet and become friends. We had some great times together going to blues clubs, dancing and hanging out. We even got into an automobile accident coming back from Lake Tahoe! She ended up a celebrity on the Sacramento news station because of it. Always an adventure with Christine. I will miss her terribly.

I met Christine at the Woodstock Green park. She was such a fun person, always laughing. I knew the battle she was facing with cancer but she never complained. Enjoyed the afternoons I spent with her and her darling dog Megan. We got such a kick of watching Megan run. Christine was so sweet to my Grandson. She told me all about her three. She spoke with such love for her family. Was thrilled she was able to spent the weekend at the Fairmont & make a memory. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. I wish I had met her years ago. Will never forget her.
My heart & prayers go out to her family.

Chris was a dynamic, fun, adventurous woman and so pretty. She is the best friend of my sister Pat and I got to hang out with them sometimes which was always so much fun. I will always remember her kindess, smile, and her laugh. She will be so missed by all, but remembered forever with a smile in our hearts.

I met Christine at North Bay Women's Health Center. My sister had just been diagosed with breast cancer, I wanted a small gift to send her to let her know I was thinking about her, Christine gave me a CD, and told me to give it to my sister, there was no charge, she would take care of it. She told me her story. She was so beautiful and full of life I really did not believe she had been through so much. She truly was an inspiration, and she blessed me that day with her joy and her hope. My prayers are with her family, especially her grandsons.
