Dorothy Irene "Dot" Morris died Friday, Dec. 16, at Vaca Valley Hospital, with family at her side. She was 96 years old. Dot was born April 4, 1920 in Fort Bragg, CA to Charles and Vesta (Johnson) Breen. She grew up in Fort Bragg, graduating from Fort Bragg High School in 1938. She worked at several jobs including Strauman's Department Store, Rose Florist and Vacaville Nursery. She loved flowers and plants of all kinds and her yard showed it. She also volunteered for many community groups including 4-H, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and the Vacaville Elks Club. She was a proud member of the Solano County Council of the Blind for the past four years.

Dot always said that "in order to have good friends, you have to be a good friend", and she was proud of the many wonderful friendships she maintained over her 96 years. She enjoyed making cards to send to her friends and family and phoned her friends regularly to make sure they were okay. She was an amazing seamstress and shared her talents for sewing, crocheting and other crafts with her daughters, friends and family over the years.

Dot married (John) Jack Morris in 1947 and they spent 63 happy years together, raising their family. They moved to Vacaville in 1957 making their home there for almost 60 years. After they retired they enjoyed many years traveling throughout the U.S. in their RV, visiting family and friends and appreciating the wonderful people and beauty of our country.

Family was very important to Dot and she was very proud of her ever growing brood. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Cintas (Joe) of Vacaville; son, Ed Morris (Debi) of Woodland, and son-in-law, Bob Blickenderfer of Massillon, OH; grandchildren, Rick (Lisa) and Mike Cintas of Vacaville, Gina Blickenderfer of Massillon, OH, Erin Morris (Cory) of Woodland and Jeff Morris of Salem, OR; great grandchildren, Jordan, Richard, Harley, Gage, Johnny, Lindsey and Marley Cintas of Vacaville, Cody Blickenderfer of Massillon, OH, Liam and Isla Berthiaume of Woodland, and great-great granddaughter, Jayden Mosley of Vacaville; brother-in-law, Bill Morris of Santa Rosa and sister-in-law, Marilyn Morris of Los Molinos; and cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, (John) Jack Morris; her daughter, Pati Blickenderfer; her oldest grandson, John Cintas; her great grandson, Brogan Cintas, and her brother, Jack Breen.

A memorial service will be held for Dot at the McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville on Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. She will be interred with her beloved husband, Jack at the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a , or to the Vacaville Fire Department's Paramedic Fund.
