In memory of Elmer "Smitty" Smith, who peacefully passed away at home on Sep. 3, 2010.
Smitty was born on Lodi, Calif., on May 7, 1941. He is survived by his 3 sons, Charles, William and Danny; and grandsons, Michael and James Smith.
Smitty served 4 years in the Army, completing a tour in Korea. He was a resident of Solano County for more than 35 years, and spent 33 years as a parts manager of Woodard Chevrolet in Fairfield.
Along with the love of his wife of 35 years, Kathy, they started the first motorcycle shop in Vacaville in 1976. Ten years later they closed their shop where they became some of the founding members of ABATE Local 17, where they both held numerous offices. Kathy passed away in 2002, Smitty survived 8 more years before being reunited with the love of his life.
Services will be held at his home at 11:30 a.m. today. All are welcome. Bring your scooter.

Smit....I'm happy you and Kathy are riding together again. I'm sad that it is not here. You and Kathy will always be in my memories. We all had good times (1975-1980) until I moved that will never be forgotten. Ride on brother and sister!
