Fumiko Tate Obituary
March 30, 1930 - Nov. 28, 2017 Fairfield Fumiko Tate, 87, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 28. At the time, she was in Corte Madera, at the memory care facility where she had relocated after the passing of her husband, Melvin Tate. Fumiko was born on March 30, 1930, in Tokyo, Japan, as the third daughter of Hisakichi Saito and Noboru Yamamoto. She attended school and was raised in Yokohama, Japan. On Sept. 3, 1958, she married her husband, Melvin, who predeceased her in 2014. Fumiko was a dedicated wife and homemaker. Fumiko supported Melvin as they moved through several duty stations in Asia, California, and Texas, including while Melvin served in the Vietnam War. Fumiko also worked outside of the home until becoming a mother to her only child, Eric. Fumiko was a good dancer, particularly in her youth. Fumiko was an avid bingo player, and also enjoyed other games. Fumiko could also carry a tune, and particularly enjoyed karaoke singing Enka songs. Fumiko was a wonderful cook, and was a generous and caring person who would never let a guest leave the house without a bite to eat and a gift. Fumiko slowed down considerably in her later years, but even until her last days, she maintained her wonderful sense of humor. Fumiko is survived by her brother, Hideo; son, Eric Tate; daughter in law, Teresa Tate, and grandchildren, Alexandra and Christian Tate, and sisters in law, Alma Franklin, Lucy Tate, and Wency Emery. Fumiko also was preceded in death by her brothers, Tsuneo, Sadayoshi, Masanobu, and sisters, Shizue and Toshiko. A service will be held at 11 a.m., on Dec. 21, at the Sacramento Valley Military Cemetery in Dixon. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the , www.alz.org, "In Memory of Fumiko Tate". Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker, (707) 425-4697. You may sign the guestbook at www.bryanbraker.com.
