Jim McBride, 68, of Carmichael, passed away on Aug. 11, at his home in Carmichael, Calif., due to complications following heart surgery.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1942, in Sacramento.
Jim was a graduate of Vacaville High School. After high school, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Fort Dix, N.J., where his two children were born. He trained in electrical engineering. After the Air Force, he returned to Vacaville. He worked for Pacific Bell as an engineering manager until his retirement.
Jim had many interests and hobbies such as abalone diving, spear fishing and camping along the Mendocino coast. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed making jams and salsas from the fruits and vegetables grown in his home orchard and garden. Jim was a car enthusiast; buying and selling a vast array of cars over the years.
Jim is survived by his life partner, Diana Deckelman, of Carmichael; daughter, Kami McBride Conyers (Michael), of Davis; son, Warren McBride (Darlene), of Pleasant Hill; sister, Sally Humphrey; brother, Tom McBride; and three grandchildren, Caitlin, Keith and Gabriel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and June McBride, of Vacaville.
A memorial service and reception will be held at the Mendes Ranch in Vacaville beginning at noon on Saturday, Sept. 25. Please call (925) 363-4959 for more information.
