Nov. 6, 1953 - Sept. 15, 2013
John Douglas McKenzie passed away peacefully on Sept. 15, at the age of 59. John worked at his family's business, Pacific Ace Hardware, in Vacaville, CA for 17 years, where he was known for locating the most obscure items for customers as he smoked his ever-present cigars. He retired and moved to Silver Springs, NV to follow his passion of gun collecting. John was born on Nov. 6, 1953 and grew up in Napa, CA. His family, originally from Monticello, left the town when it was leveled and flooded by the government to create Lake Berryessa. John is survived by his mother, Janice McKenzie; his two brothers, William and David McKenzie, and his seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert "Sandy" McKenzie, and his sister, Ann Leonard. John will be interred at the Monticello Cemetery in a private family ceremony at Spanish Flat alongside his Berryessa Valley descendants.
