Joyce Reeves Foster Obituary

Joyce passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, at the La Mariposa Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield.

She was born Joyce Mildred Bower on March 9, 1933 in Adrian, MI. After high school and during the Korean War, she enlisted in the Air Force and served her enlistment at Mather AFB, CA as a Parachute Rigger. After her enlistment, she married and raised a family.

Joyce moved to Vacaville in 1970 and had a career in Banking.

She served many years as an American Red Cross Volunteer. Her most rewarding time with the Red Cross was during the Vietnam conflict where she worked at Tachikawa AFB Hospital in Japan caring for our wounded troops who were flown in from Vietnam.

Joyce was very active with the Vacaville Veterans Hall and was Chaplain for both the AmVets and the American Legion. She was the first female American Legion Commander in Vacaville. She attended St. Joseph Church.

Joyce was active with the Cub Scouts, Senior Center, Ride for Pride Program and VA Hospital in Martinez. She was also a past member of the Vacaville Moose Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Bower; mother, Mildred Bower and brother, Charles Bower.

Joyce is survived by her two sons, David Reeves of Vacaville and Darren Reeves of Billings, Montana. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Reeves, Nickolas Reeves, Miley Reeves, Jasen Reeves and great grandson, Evan Hanson.

There will be no services.
