Lt. Col. Leslie H. Sharpless passed away peacefully on May 5, in Vacaville at the age of 90. Leslie grew up in Philadelphia, PA and received a degree in History from Drexel University. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio operator before becoming an Air Force pilot serving our country in WW II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He met and married his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Smith, in her home town of Sacramento. After living and traveling extensively, he settled with his family in Vacaville, in 1975 and subsequently retired from Travis AFB. He is survived by his three children, Michael (Wendy) Sharpless, Janet (Paul) Ferrian, and Susan Hubbard (John Peterson), as well as eight grandchildren, Joseph, Isabel, Megan, Katie, Sarah, Kellie, Sophie and Tommy. Leslie was an extremely kind, dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. His integrity, love of family and strong work ethic left an indelible mark on those whom he has left behind. He will be buried during a private family ceremony in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, honored with a 21 gun salute.
