Martin Ray Mears Obituary
Jan. 27, 1947 - May 13, 2013
A graveside service for Martin Ray Mears, 66 of Vacaville, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road in Dixon.
Marty passed away peacefully at his home on May 13. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on Jan. 27, 1947 to Harold and Alice Mears.
Marty served in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to be a Deputy Sheriff in Solano County for 25 years and then for the U.S. Marshals Service in Reno, Nevada.
Marty was a pilot. He also enjoyed woodworking, model trains and spending time at his cabin in Donner Lake.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Betty; stepchildren, Jeff Hunter (Gayle), Joanne Goldberg (Ed) and Doug Hunter; sister, Nancy Stalker; grandchildren, Amanda, Kristina, Alicia, Heather, Rachel, Michael and Angela; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America www.pva.org or the Vacaville SPCA.
