Roy Davis Obituary

March 8, 1929 - June 7, 2011

Roy Davis was born on March 8, 1929, in Rogersville, Tenn., to Jess M. Davis and Velvo Price Davis.

He married Peggy Price and came to Travis Air Force Base in 1950, staying in Fairfield and raising three children.

In 1981, Roy married Elizabeth ("Betty") Venning Darling.

Roy retired after 30 years with AT&T. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Fairfield Fire Department for more than 50 years, leaving with Badge #1. He enjoyed following his son, Scott's, hockey games and was an honorary team member. Roy enjoyed camping and, in later years, traveling in his RV.

Roy was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jess and Velvo Davis; his brother, Coy Davis; his sister, Juanita Spivey; and his son, Scott Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; his son, Larry Davis of Sacramento; daughter, Linda Ames of Modesto; two stepsons, Paul Darling of Fairfield and Darrold Darling of Lincoln; three grandsons, three step-grandsons, three step-granddaughters and one step-great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Perry and Frank Davis of Rogersville.

There will be a graveside service for family and close friends at 11 a.m. at Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery, 1707 Union Ave., Fairfield, Calif. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 1875 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, Calif., to be followed by a reception in the church Social Hall. Both services will be held on Friday, June 17.

Memorials are suggested to Solano History Exploration Center, 1925 San Clemente St., Fairfield, CA 94533; Community United Methodist Church (CUMC), 1875 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, CA 94533, or your favorite charity.
