Ruth Marie Perryman Holtz passed away in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 20, from cancer. Born on March 23, 1921 to Harry Perryman and wife, Marie Lamb Perryman, in Shelbyville, Ill., Ruth attended business college and then worked as an executive secretary in a manufacturing firm. She married Larry Holtz in 1944, with whom she reared two sons.
She was preceded in death by her brother Richard, who died in childhood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, a World War II veteran of the Navy, and her younger son Gary Holtz, a Vietnam veteran, and she will be buried with them in Arlington Cemetery. She is survived by her elder son, Richard Barry Holtz, Ph.D., and his children, Mark Holtz of Menlo Park, Ca., Andrew Jason Holtz of San Diego, Ca., and Megan Elizabeth Holtz, of Houston, Texas, and by her son Gary's son, Gary Holtz, of Chicago, Ill. Ruth was a long time active participant in the Vacaville Historical Society and a library volunteer. The family expresses its appreciation to Ms. Robyn Burgess and her staff at Houston's senior housing facility, 2100 Memorial Apartments in Houston, Texas, for helping Ruth live happily and independently until her final illness.
