Mary Sue (Hopper) Keith

Mary Sue (Hopper) Keith, beloved wife, mother of 5, granny of 11 and great-granny of 12, was born Feb. 7, 1932 in Rector, AR. She married SMST Hershel William Keith (USAF Retired), also of Rector, AR, Aug. 28, 1948. They lived and raised their family in St. Louis, MO, Tripoli, Libya, Amarillo, TX, and Cahokia, IL, finally settling in Vacaville, in 1979. Mary entered into eternal rest on March 24, after battling a short illness.

The anchor of her family, Mary devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in her church and volunteered several years at the Chapel office at David Grant Medical Center at Travis AFB. She owned the Mode-O-Day/ Fashion Gal clothing store in Vacaville during the 1980s and 1990s, prior to her retirement. Mary loved to travel around the world, visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. With an artistic eye, she loved to crochet, decorate cakes and make floral arrangements for family and friends. The mother of two sets of twins, she was named Mother of the Year in Cahokia, IL in 1968.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; her mother, Nettie Hopper of Rector, AR; sister, Carma Lee (Hopper) Hall of Rector, AR and Vacaville. Mary is succeeded in life by son, David (Mary) Keith of Colorado Springs, CO; daughters, Cynthia Kawakami of Vacaville, Cathy Keith, recently of Mattawan, MI and currently of Vacaville, Theresa (Alan) Bales of Fairfield, and Thomas (Janet) Keith of Woodbridge, VA. She is also succeeded by her grandchildren, Rachel Espinosa, Denver, CO, Sarah Bryerly and Rebecca Keith, Colorado Springs, CO, Stephanie Kinney, Mattawan, MI, Alexys Legowicz, Honolulu, HI, Jason Kawakami, Colorado Springs, CO, Hillary Jackson and Michael Jackson, Everett, WA, Holly Bales, Fairfield, and Parick and Sophia Keith, Woodbridge, VA; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Keith, Woodridge, VA, Brennan Kinney, Mattawan, MI, Antonio and McKenna Bianchetti of Mattawan, MI, Kaylee, Zachary and Lukas Kawakami, Colorado Springs, Jamie Espinosa, Denver, Easton and Caroline Bryerly, Colorado Springs, and Amos and Noble Quinto, Honolulu.

A Memorial service for Mary will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Rd., in Vacaville. Chaplain Little will officiate.
