Jean Danielson was born Helen Jean Danielson on Sept. 14, 1914, in the family home on Cordelia Road to Rudolph and Myra (McCabe) Mangels.
She spent her childhood on the family ranch, graduating from Armijo High School in 1931. She attended Oregon State University in Corvallis, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. While at OSU, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
She returned to Solano County and taught high school home economics in the Vallejo Unified School District.
In August of 1940, she married Edgar Lee Danielson. Together, they raised three children: James, Kathryn and Laura.
She was a homemaker for several years. She returned to teaching and taught second-, third- and fourth-grades in the Fairfield Unified School District for 18 years. She, Ed and children moved to her family home upon the death of her parents. She continued to live there until 1995 when she moved to Vacaville.
She passed away in Vacaville on Dec. 23, 2011.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Dianne) Danielson; daughter, Kathy (Dave) Sbaffi; and daughter, Laurie (Bob) Bailey. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Steve, Leslie, Mike, Nick, Chris, Greg and Kailyn; and step-grandchildren, Bob, Jenny and Tegan. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; sisters, Ione and Shirley; brother, Bud; and her parents.
She will be laid to rest with a graveside service in the Rockville Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. She will be remembered for her independent spirit, homemaking skills and devotion to family.
