In Loving Memory of
Richard Eugene Gibson
Dec. 4, 1933 - Nov. 8, 2012
Richard "Rich" Gibson, 78, passed away peacefully Nov. 8, at his home in Vacaville. He was born and spent his early childhood in Waukesha, Wisconsin. His family later settled in Napa, Calif., where he was a 1952 graduate from Napa High School.
He took pride in his voluntary enlistment in the U.S. Army as a SP4 with the 596th Engineer Co., where he was stationed in Okinawa and received two medals for his service to his country.
Upon his return, he married and had four daughters, who were the loves of his life. He was very proud of all that he was able to accomplish while working as an engineer/machinist with Kaiser Steel in Napa, and later retiring as an Engineer Supervisor with Wemco in Sacramento. He took great pleasure in knowing that his designs have made their way around the world.
Richard was best known for his love of gardening. He was well known for his flowers, especially his love of roses. When Richard wasn't helping out his family and local friends with the project of the day, he was on the lookout for a new fishing buddy to share his long time love of fishing. Those around him knew him as a man of strong opinions. He was an active member of the local Tea Party and a devoted member of The Father's House.
The only thing Richard loved more than his daughters and family was his relationship with God. We rejoice that he has finally laid down his cross of suffering and made his way home.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Dawn Marie Isnor (Rick), Catherine "Katie" Gibson (Kyra Wink), Cindy Gibson and Trisha Wick (Kevin); also his grandchildren, Jason Surginer, KelliMarie Mummert (Alex), Trisha Ann Skalinger, Mason Isnor, Kyle, Taylor and Rachel Wick, great grandchildren, Jacob and Casey.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.
Richard's request is that in lieu of flowers, that you make a contribution to the Vacaville Storehouse.
