Wayne Coleman Greer passed out of this world Nov. 16, after a long battle with the after affects of the
. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Wayne was born to Marvin and Wanda Greer, Nov. 29, 1934 in San Diego, CA. His father was a Chief Petty Officer aboard the Battleship USS North Carolina during
World War II
. Marvin retired after thirty years of service.
Like his father, Wayne was a military man. He served twenty years in the United States Air force serving his country in Korea, Thailand and two deployments in Vietnam. He was a armament and munitions expert, with many years of his service at Travis Air Force Base.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Virginia; his three sons, Wayne Jr., Tim and Don; her two sons, James and Timothy; his brother, Gerry; and his sister, Edith and Patti. He also had 10 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, all girls.
Wayne spent much of his adult life in Fairfield and surrounding areas as a Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor, and a long time up scale Custom Home Builder with a legacy of many beautiful homes in the area.
Wayne was an avid fisherman and boating enthusiast and a member of the Solano Yacht Club. He was also an avid restorer of automobiles and boats, and won many awards as a result of those efforts.
Funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 23, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West Texas St., Fairfield, CA., beginning at 11 a.m. Immediately thereafter there will be a Celebration of Life to be held at the Solano Yacht Club, 703 Civic Center Blvd., Suisun City, CA 94585.
