Jerry Arnall Chambers, died peacefully in his home in Vacaville on Dec. 26, after a three year battle with cancer. He was born on April 27, 1944 in Vallejo, CA.
Jerry lived and grew up in Napa, graduated from Napa High School and attended Napa Community College. In 1968, he served a tour of duty in the United States Army. After his honorary discharge from the military, he continued his work at Napa State Hospital. He later worked in Vacaville for the Department of Corrections and from there he retired after more than 30 years of state service. Jerry had a passion for antiques, and was an avid Vaseline glass collector. His other passion was genealogy. He spent many years of extensive research locating his descendents and learning about family history all the way back to the 1500's.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Chambers; brother, Jeff Chambers (Beth) of Woodland, CA; daughter, Sean Chambers-Ray (Todd) of Portland, OR; daughter, Tara Chambers-Francis (Jason) of Hillsboro, OR; stepson, Matt Bally of Pleasanton, CA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Hal A. Chambers; mother, Doris M. Chambers-Robertson; twin brother, Cary Hal Chambers and sister, Patricia Ann Chambers.
Jerry was a great husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, and will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Visitation will be available on Sunday, Dec. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home at 180 East Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville CA. A private service for his immediate family will be held on Monday, Dec. 31.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Jerry's honor for family and friends on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 506 Cottonwood St., Woodland, CA 95695.
