A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Ellen DiMichele, 86, of Vacaville, will be said at 9 a.m., Friday, in St Mary's Catholic Church, 350 Stinson Ave., Vacaville.
A burial will take place following the Mass at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday in Vaca Hills Chapel.
Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 13.
She was born in Porterville in 1927 to Doris and William Easley. After high school, Mary received her Nursing Degree at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles and began her career in a preemie nursery in Honolulu, Hawaii. Upon her return stateside she was reacquainted with her beloved husband, Dr. John D. DiMichele whom she had met during her nursing training at Queen of Angels, John and Mary were married in 1951 and over the next 10 years were blessed with eight children. After being stationed around the states and in England with the U.S. Air Force the DiMichele's made Vacaville their lifelong home when John was transferred to Travis Air Force Base in1962. She was Parishioner of St. Mary's, and work faithfully with Stephens Ministries and at the Food Bank.
After losing her beloved husband in 1990, with grace, independence and dignity, Mary continued to embrace life with a passion. Her children were the center of her life and she was cherished by all of them. Loving guidance radiated in everything she did. She traveled the world, watched her grandchildren grow up, go off to college, marry and have children of their own. They will miss their Nonna deeply.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, John D.DiMichele; her parents, Doris and William Easley and her brother, Robert Easley. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Easley and by her eight children; Lucia M. Morales (Bob), Marta A. Jacobs (Andy), John A. DiMichele (Bonnie), Suzanne M. Green (John Henry), Peter DiMichele (Rosa), Mary Mellinger (Joel), Luke DiMichele (Yvonne), and Mark DiMichele; eighteen grandchildren, Jennifer Kelly (Charles), Andrea Sellers (Andrew), Nicole McNelis (Michael), John D. DiMichele, Aaron Green, Christina Morales, Courtney Clark (Owen), Magdelynn Green, Matthew DiMichele, Ellen Tilghman (Ian), Audrey DiMichele, Anthony DiMichele, Lucius Morales, Charles DiMichele, Raymond Mellinger, Anna DiMichele, Regina Mellinger and Sarah DiMichele; three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Dominic McNelis and Avery Clark.
Monsignor James Murphy of the Sacramento Diocese will officiate the Mass and Christian burial. Arrangements to be handled by Vaca Hills Chapel. St. Mary's Church, 350 Stinson Ave., Vacaville.
