"The deeper that sorrow carves into your being the more joy you can contain." - Khalil Gibran
What a joy it is to have had Rachael in our lives.
A smile, bright and full; equally innocent, impish and irresistibly contagious. A wisp of a thing with an independent streak and personality that belied her size. Pippy and spunky, a pixie, like her favorite Tinker Bell, with a mischievous twinkle in her eye - always up to something and blissfully unaware of the meaning of limitations. Bearer of the Tigger costume that served as pajamas, evening wear and uniform for weeks on end. Lover of animals, both stuffed and living. Her mother's Wild Prairie Rose, pure beauty with just a few thorns on the side.
In our eyes, in our memories and in our hearts, she will always be that beautiful little girl - just four or five - who, though robbed of her movement and sight and finally her life, never lost her infectious free spirit and a true self that shined through it all.
Today we take comfort that she is free from pain and suffering, free from the seizures and free from Batten Disease, safe in His arms and awaiting the promise of our family reuniting in eternity.
She is loved by the many she leaves behind. Her parents, Mark and Georgia; older sister, Korry and younger brother, Andrew; her grandparents, Stanley and Elota Dorjahn, and Aldean Sharp; her aunts and uncles, Sherry and Robert Olmstead, Craig and Jessica Sharp, Martin Sharp, and Dan and Amy Sharp; her cousins, Courtney and Mason Harris (and Charlotte), Caitlin, Garth, Dana and Russell Olmstead, Mary and Christopher Sharp, and Zackery and Jakob Sharp. She joins her granddad, Melvin Sharp, in our Heavenly home.
Join us for a celebration of the gift of Rachael's life at 11 a.m., this Saturday morning, Sept. 7, at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 1891 Woolner Ave., in Fairfield. We encourage you to wear lime green - Rachael's favorite color. Burial will be private at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery under the arrangements of Vaca Hills Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a contribution in Rachael's memory to the Batten Disease Support and Research Association at
