Aug. 10, 1920 - Sept. 5, 2013
Walter Francis Parker Jr. was taken to Heaven in the arms of his Jesus Sept. 5, at his home in Vacaville. He was born to Walter Francis Parker Sr. and Elinor Hogan Parker, Aug. 10, 1920. He was a descendent of Drury Parker and Rachel Nipper. His father, Walter Parker Sr. was the Solano County Tax Collector for many years.
He worked at Mare Island both before and after World War II as a rigger.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. His son, Walter Francis Parker III (Willie) was born to him and Corrine Souza (Betty) Parker in 1943. In 1951 the family moved to Fairfield. to the McDermott Ranch on Walters Rd. There he raised sheep and grew crops. He went to work as an appraiser for Solano County in 1961.
His second son, Sean Morris Parker was born in 1973 to him and Patty Parker. They moved to Westwood in 1978 along with Patty's sons Kelly and Scott. He went into business with his cousin, Daniel Hogan III where they shared many good times, adventures and escapades.
In 1992 he and Patty bought a ranch in Northeast Oregon on the Powder River where they lived until 2004. They then moved back to Westwood, in northern California and enjoyed their retirement in the winter wonderland of the beautiful Sierra Mountains.
This past spring, due to failing health they returned to Solano County to be closer to family and live at a lower elevation.
He lived a long and happy life, loved by many. His smile would light up for each person he met. His mission in his later years was to spread God's love and mercy to everyone he met. His influence touched the lives of so many people in this world. He will be missed for his straight forward wisdom and gentle care to loved ones, friends and even strangers. He was a humble man with an enormous heart.
He is survived by his Mama Patty; sons, Willie and Sean Parker, Ken, Kelly and Scott Harper; grandchildren, Walter (Quatro) and Jason Parker, Dina Kamerzell, Rachael, Tyler, Will and Aislin Parker, Max, and DJ Harper, Jessica and Jacob Harper, Gunnar and Emily Harper; great grandchildren, Paisley and Bella, Khloe, Rifle and Indie, and Judah.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1050 N. Texas St., Fairfield, Friday Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. Funeral Mass following at noon. Interment at Suisun/Fairfield Cemetery directly following the Mass. Arrangements are under the care of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. www.bryanbraker.com (707) 448-4900.
