Jan. 20, 1930 -- Sept. 7, 2013
Loren was born and raised in Oakland, CA where he met and married Gail Johnson, his loving wife of 60 years. He was a proud father and great role model for six children, Steve (Brenda Gordon), Greg (Debbie), Mark (Suzanne), Jeff (Shary), Lori Kennedy (John), and Rick (Teresa).
Life was even more of a joy when his grandchildren joined the Family Tree --- Tim (Rosanne), Kristi White (Corey), Loren T., Allen, Blair, Trevor, Tori, Jaime, Jessica, Stephanie and Nathan.
God was good! Loren lived long enough to love four great-grandchildren, McKenna Rose, Parker Alice, Maddie Grace White, AKA The White Tornado and Robert James.
Loren joined the
US Air Force
at 17, served three years, then spent five years working for a civilian airline. He was hired as an aircraft mechanic at Hamilton AFB and was there until they closed the base and he was transferred to Travis AFB in the AF Reserves. He served his Country for 30 years.
His family was always first in his heart ….he spent more hours than we can count at ball games, from T ball right up through high school. When the season changed, so did his interest --- from football to track and rugby. When he wasn't watching his own kids, he would be found in front of the TV rooting for the Giants, 49'ers and A's in that order.
Our biggest project together (not counting the kids) was raising llamas for 23 years. It was so peaceful to sit at the window and watch them frolic in the fields.
His parents, George and Nellie, a brother, William Allen and a sister, Mary June Johnson precede him in death.
He is also survived by sisters, Lorell Pease, Barbara Sapp (Lee); brother-in-law, George Johnson and numerous nephews and nieces.
At his request services will be private. In lieu of flowers, his preference is memorial donations to The
