AnnLee Tavares Obituary
AnnLee Tavares, 71, of Stevensville, passed away on Sept. 28, at 12:05 a.m., after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on Nov. 19, 1941, in Oakland, Calif. to Edd and Althea Vargas (Nichols). As a young girl she lived with her family on a ranch in Fremont, Calif. On Aug. 12, 1961, she married John Tavares, her loving husband of 52 years. They resided initially in Fremont, and later in Vacaville, until retiring and moving in 1997 to Stevensville, Montana.
She was a member of the Niles, Calif chapter of S.P.R.S.I., the ABC Doll Club of Fremont, and The Book Club of Hamilton, MT. For a number of years she volunteered at the Winsor House Convalescent Hospital in Vacaville and the Bitterroot Living Center in Stevensville where she brought cheer and joy to the residents by bringing her beloved cat "Jazzy" to visit. She was an avid doll and toy collector and enjoyed doll making.
She is survived by her husband, John Tavares, Stevensville, MT; one son, Bob Tavares and wife Michelle, Florence, MT; two daughters, Marina DeWynter and husband Michael, Vacaville, and Cindy Tavares and boyfriend Jim Nau, Stevenson, MT, and six grandchildren, Marcella, Gabbie, Nathan, Cheyenne, Joao, and Nikolas.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Whitesitt Funeral Home, 314 Church St., Stevensville, MT, with interment at Maplewood Cemetery and reception to follow at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 216 College St.
