Marcia Lee Sheidler Obituary
Jan. 15, 1953 - Oct. 14, 2013
After an almost nine year battle against ovarian cancer, our warrior, Marcia Lee Sheidler, passed away on Oct. 14 at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento at the age of 60.
Marcia was born on Jan.15, 1953 in Salem, Oregon and was raised from the age of three in Vacaville, Calif. with her parents, the late Lloyd and Hazel Bryant; sister and brother, Barbara Bryant Morici and Michael Bryant. In 1974 she met the true love of her life, Richard Ford Sheidler, while he was bidding a job at the family ranch, Bryant Arabians, on his 21st birthday. They married in 1975 and together grew their long-time business, DuraFence Corp. in Sacramento. During their 38 year marriage they worked hard, made countless friends, enjoyed years of houseboating at Bullard's Bar, traveling with friends and family to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and Alaska and gave a wonderful home to their growing family of rescued cats.
Besides her sister and brother, Marcia is survived by her brother-in-law, Greg Morici; nephew, A.J. Morici; sister-in-law, Rita Bryant; father-in-law, Dick Sheidler; mother-in-law, Arlene Sheidler (deceased) and sister-in-law, Debbie Sheidler, along with numerous friends that are as close as family.
Marcia will be remembered as a beautiful, strong and independent woman who loved and laughed with all her heart and bravely fought her cancer until the end. Her family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses at UC Davis Medical Center and Cedars Sinai in LA where she was treated for years, special thanks to Dr. Robert Nagourney whose innovative therapy extended her time with us for years.
A celebration of Marcia's life will be held on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m., at Marcia and Rick's home where all ohana (family) will be welcome to attend and share stories, memories and pictures.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vanguard Cancer Foundation (www.Vanguard Cancer Foundation.org).
