Gertrude Leinaala Rodrigues

Gertrude Leinaala Rodrigues, 79 of Vacaville, passed away peacefully on the morning of Jan. 15. Gertrude, affectionately known as Trudy, was born in Maui, Hawaii to Edward and Louise Sylva on Jan. 31, 1934.
Trudy spent many years traveling the world as a military spouse and resided at Travis Air Force Base until her husband retired in 1978. She loved life, her family, friends and her faithful companions, Kalohe, Malia, Pele, Kimo and Uku. Trudy touched the lives of many people with her beautiful smile and generosity. She will be remembered especially for the words, "Beautiful, beautiful" as she used them to describe all that was good in life to her and those around her. To her family, these words describe the person that she was and we want her to know now that she was so very beautiful, beautiful to us all.
Trudy is survived by her daughters, Darlene Felicilda (Michael) of Maui, Cheryl Tilton of Oahu, Lorna Rogers (James) of Vacaville and Noreen Malaqui (Kyle) of Maui; sisters, Patricia Osmundson of North Dakota, Agnes Mason and Eunice Gomes, both of Oahu; grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Chad, Gordon, Kalei, Justin, Kelly, Taryn, Kyle and Keith; she is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and extended family. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon C. Rodrigues, parents, sisters, Louise and Velma, and brothers, Isaac and Abraham.
At the request of the family, no service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Maui, Hawaii.
