Elma & Family,
I just read about Daves passing this evening. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Working with Dave for 33 years was a pleasure & so sad that he didn't have many more years to enjoy his retirement.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time.
Fondly

Since I learned that Dave passed away last week, I've been thinking about what a rare and wonderful gift I had, to say each year that I truly looked forward to getting my taxes done. Dave was my family's accountant for more than thirty years. He and my dad both went into business for themselves at the same time. Both struggled and worked incredibly long hours, especially at the beginning. And both were blessed to have genuinely loved their professions.
It was a pleasure to watch Dave work. From a simple 1040 to complex corporate filings, Dave treated each taskeach line on the formas a new and intriguing challenge. Oh, that's interesting, he would say (and truly mean it). The computer says one thing, but I got something else. And then Dave was off on a small adventure at his desk, trusting the real tools of his trade, pencil, paper, and a big, noisy desktop calculator, to give him the answers he sought. And if you were lucky enough to watch him do this, you could see through the thick lenses of Dave's glasses a genuine spark, a gleam of pure joy at the adventure of finding a number. Very few people get to say they love their work this much. My dad is one such lucky soul. So was Dave. I'm so glad that they were friends, and that I got to grow up watching them both love what they do and learn from them both.
Thank you, Dave, for always answering the phone, even late at night during the height of tax season. Thanks for calling each of us personally when you started to do less at the office to thank us for all the years of business. Thanks for always keeping a cup of coffee warm for us, and for stopping to chat about your time in the Navy, or how you made out on your last trip to Atlantic City. Thanks for coming to the house to get signatures on forms the day they were due. But mostly, thanks for being such a wonderful, warm, fascinating, joyful, caring person. Your friendship was a rare gift that my family will treasure for all our lives.

Davie Faul did our taxes when we were first married and ended up doing our children's as well. Doing taxes was always fun with David, jokes, remembrances, shared stories. He was always warm and welcoming and we were so surprised and saddened to hear of his passing. We pray for the family, that you will find peace when you think of him and how much he loved you.
