Betty J. Detweiler

BETTY DETWEILER Betty J. Detweiler, 58, of Harleysville, peacefully went to be with her Lord Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the faithful wife of Laverne H. Detweiler, to whom she was married 38 years. Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Godshall) Halteman. Betty was a graduate of Souderton High School, class of 1972. She was employed by Landis Supermarket as a baker for 27 years. Betty's family was most precious to her. She looked forward to their yearly Outer Banks vacations and loved shopping trips to Lancaster. Her hobbies included reading, yard work, listening to music, preparing weekly family meals, playing with her grandsons, and taking walks. She was a loyal Philadelphia Sports Fan. Betty had a sweet disposition and contagious smile even through her battle with melanoma. She was a member of Franconia Mennonite Church She is survived by two sons, Adam and wife, Martha, Anthony and wife, Kara, all of Harleysville; two grandsons, Chase and Colton Detweiler; six siblings, Ray Halteman and wife, Nesi, of Tucson, AZ, Bob Halteman and wife, Audrey, of Souderton, Dennis Halteman and wife, Debbie, of Sarasota, FL. Janet Michener and husband, Ken, of Hatfield, Sue Clemmer and husband, Daryl, of Harleysville and Donald Halteman and wife, Pam, of Perkasie; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service Sunday, Feb. 10, 7PM at Franconia Mennonite Church, 613 Harleysville Pike, Telford, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4PM and from 5:30 to 6:30PM.
