Edward J. Groth

EDWARD GROTH Edward J. Groth, 95, a long-time resident of Lansdale, died late Tuesday evening, February 26, 2013 in the Peter Becker Community Skilled Nursing Unit. Born September 3, 1917 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George J. and Elizabeth (Lipsett) Groth. Mr. Groth grew up in Hatfield and was a 1937 graduate of Hatfield High School. A United States Army veteran who served during World War II, he was a former member of the American Legion Post No. 933, Hatfield, Shiloh Lodge No. 558 F&AM, Souderton, and was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Sellersville Lodge No. 1539. Prior to his retirement, Edward was employed with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Surviving are two nieces, Stephanie Sherman and Valerie Miller Bean; grandnephew, Zachery A. Sherman; grandniece, Gabby M. Sherman; sister-in-law, V. Marie Groth; and friend, Joseph Kleinschmidt. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold N. Groth and George Groth. Relatives and friends may call between 8:30 and 9AM Monday, March 4 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, before processing to Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, for Funeral Services and Interment.
