Dr. Rev. Lawrence Svane

REV. DR. LAWRENCE SVANE Rev. Dr. Lawrence Svane, 83, of Harleysville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Grand View Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sarah "Sally" Svane for 34 years. Larry was born in Seattle, WA to the late Karl and Asta Svane. He graduated from Lake Washington High School. Larry graduated from University of Washington, class of 1952. He graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, class of 1955. He then graduated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980 with a Doctorate of Ministry. Larry also received a Masters of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, class of 1985. Throughout his lifetime, he served as the Pastor for: Tremont Presbyterian Church of New York City, First Presbyterian Church of Clifton, NJ, First Presbyterian of Millville, NJ and Ann Carmichael Memorial Presbyterian Church of Bensalem. Larry also served as a visitation pastor at Christ Covenant Church in Harleysville. He was member of the Masters Swim Program, receiving many medals, the highest of which was the gold medal at the Senior Olympics. He enjoyed gardening, antiquing and building birdhouses and model ships. Larry and his wife were members of Immanuel Leidy's Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by her three daughters, Diane Smith and husband, Edward of Harleysville, Elaine Muraresku and husband, Charles of Riverton, NJ and Linda Molloy and husband, Edward of Chalfont; her three sons, Edward La Guardia and wife, Germaine of Warrington, Steven La Guardia and wife, Kimberly of Telford and David La Guardia of Hanover, NH; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Nancy Jabon of Everett, WA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Francis Pennings. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 1 at 11AM at Immanuel Leidy's Church, 276 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 where friends may meet with the family from 10AM to 11AM. Burial will take place at Immanuel Leidy's Church Cemetery.
