THOMAS WELCH Thomas J. Welch, 57, of Hilltown Township, formerly of Webster NY, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Grand View Hospital Hospice Care. He was the beloved husband of Sue (Brown) Welch for 34 years. Born in Webster, NY, he was the son of Hazel (Hosier) Welch and the late Norbert C. Welch. Tom was a 1973 graduate of Schroeder High School, Webster, NY and received his Bachelors in Teaching from Oswego State, Masters in Computer Ed. from Arcadia College and MBA from DeSales University. Tom was VP of Operations for 25 years of a privately held company in Rochester, NY, before embarking on his second career as a Teacher. He taught at Souderton Area High School until 2008. He volunteered with VITA, SCORE and Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake Bucks County. Tom was a very kind, caring, compassionate, humble man, who spent his life building up others; especially teenagers. He had strong faith and love of the Lord. Tom's passion was Coaching; he coached Freshmen Girls Basketball at Souderton Area High School for 7 years until the program disbanded in 2010 and JV Boys Golf Team. He continued to Coach as an Assistant to the JV and Varsity Girls Basketball Team at Souderton Area High School until his death. He had a deep love for the Souderton School Community and for the students he taught. Through his short battle, with an aggressive form of cancer, his "girls" and the Coaches gave Tom and his family the love and strength to inspire Tom to fight as hard as he could. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his daughter, Jinny Welch (Natalie Chen) of New York City; mother, Hazel Welch of Webster, NY; father, Norbert C. Welch (of late); father-in-law, Eric Brown, Depew, NY; mother-in law, Alberta Brown (of late); sister, Virginia (Terry-of late) Ludwig, Rochester NY; sister, Janet (Bob) Genthner, Rochester NY; brother, John (Beth) Welch, Henrietta, NY; sister, Patty (Roy) Bortle, Webster, NY; brothers-in law, Mike (Jan) Brown, Lancaster NY and Dan Brown, Depew NY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; beloved friends, Souderton Area High School Girls Basketball Coaches....Lynn Carroll, Glenside, Josh (Lauren) Klimovich, Souderton and Ben Bowman, Cheltenham and his beloved Souderton Girls Basketball Team. Friends are invited to attend his Memorial service at 3PM Sunday, Feb 24, from Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc. 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, where the family will greet friends from 1 to 3PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church, Webster NY, March 4.
