Michael Robert Detweiler

MICHAEL DETWEILER Michael Robert Detweiler, 17, of Franconia Twp., passed away at home surrounded by his loving parents, sisters, and his faithful dog, Copper, on July 5, 2013, following a two year illness. Born October 10, 1995 in Doylestown Hospital, he was the son of Larry and Mary (Murmello) Detweiler, and had recently finished his junior year at LaSalle College High School. Michael took part in community soccer and basketball programs. A member of the Junior P.G.A., he was a golfer and enjoyed snowboarding, skiing, and playing video games. He had a wonderful time with his family on a Make-A-Wish trip to Vail, CO in March 2012. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Lauren and Alyssa Detweiler at home; his maternal grandmother, Hilda Murmello of Freeland; his paternal grandmother, Marian Detweiler of White Haven; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Casimer Murmello; and his paternal grandfather, Allen Detweiler. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 11AM Tuesday, July 9, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield, where friends may call for the viewing from 8:30 to 10:30AM. Burial will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory with check payable to LaSalle College High School, memo Michael Detweiler Scholarship Fund, 8605 Cheltenham Avenue, Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
