Douglas Detwiler Obituary

DOUGLAS DETWILER Douglas Warren Detwiler, 71, of Red Hill, died June 8, 2013 at his home. He had a great zest for life, loved woodworking, and was loved by all. He was preceded in death by two wives, Doris W. Detwiler and Pamela J. Detwiler. Doug was born in Chestnut Hill, to the late Nevin R. Detwiler and Virginia R. Detwiler. He graduated from Norristown High School in 1959 and went to Perkiomen Preparatory School and Ursinus College. He worked for many years at Lansdale Lumber and Millwork. His most recent employment was with Walmart. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn W. Heinz and her husband, William, of Newark, DE; three stepsons, David N. Leh and wife, Christine, of Gilbertsville, Jeffrey D. Leh and wife, Betty, of Florida and Robert M. Leh and wife, Michelle, of Doylestown. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and a brother, Robert Detwiler and wife, Patricia, of California. He was preceded in death by a brother, John C. Detwiler, Sr. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 17, at 11AM at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Pottstown. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Geriatric Mental Health Foundation, 7910 Woodmont Ave, Suite 1050, Bethesda, MD 20814.
