John L. "Larry" Detweiler Obituary
JOHN L. 'LARRY' DETWEILER John L. "Larry" Detweiler - 88, of Quakertown; formerly of Souderton, PA entered into rest on Friday, January 10, 2014 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Jean L. (Hoffman) Detweiler for 70 years. John was born in Hatfield, PA to the late Homer P. & Annie (Ramsey) Detweiler. He attended Hatfield High School. John served in the U.S. Air Force as a Radio Operator and Mechanic Gunner on a B-25 during WWII. He worked at H. D. Sampey, Inc. in Telford for 37 years, starting as a Machinist and later co-owned the business. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and four-wheeling. He loved singing in the church choir and spending time with his family. John was a member of Immanuel Leidy's Church where he formerly served as a deacon and an elder. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John L. Detweiler, Jr. of Sedona, AZ; his daughter, Donna Moyer & husband, Arlin of Quakertown, PA; his two granddaughters, Lisa Delp & husband, Barry of Souderton, PA, Mindy Rahn & husband, Jason of Quakertown, PA; his grandson-in-law, Charles "Frank" McCoy of Altoona, PA and his eleven great-grandchildren - Brenden, Brett, Caleb, Jacob, Alisha, Samuel, Phillip, Lilly, Daniel, Braxton and Gunnar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristy Lynn McCoy, his four brothers, Bill, Arthur, Harvey & Jake Detweiler and his two sisters, Minerva Hoffman & Jean Detweiler. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Immanuel Leidy's Church, 276 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, Pennsylvania 18964 where friends may view and meet with the family from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Burial will take place at Immanuel Leidy's Church Cemetery.
