Lewis S. Cardy Jr.

LEWIS S. CARDY JR. Lewis S. Cardy, Jr., 82, of Harleysville, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. Born in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Lewis S. Cardy, Sr. and Violet (Trump). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet (Irwin) and a newborn son, Mark. He was a member of Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years. He was previously a part-time resident of Hilton Head Island, SC and an associate member of First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head Island. Mr. Cardy graduated from Norristown High School in 1948 and attended Villanova University. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer at Burroughs Corporation before co-founding Lancer Electronics Corporation in the early 1960's. In 1969, he founded Libra Systems Corporation, where he served as President & CEO until his retirement in 1993. Lewis enjoyed wide-ranging hobbies, including; drag racing, flying, skiing and raising raccoons. Above all, he cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, David and his wife, Jennifer, of Lansdale, and Kenneth and his wife, Heather, of Schwenksville; a granddaughter, Sydney, of Lansdale; two grandsons, Seth and Bryce of Schwenksville; a sister, Bessie Ascheman and her husband, Don of Davenport, FL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 11am, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Fairview Village Church, 3044 W. Germantown Pike, Eagleville, PA 19403. Visitation will be held from 10 -11am at the church. Interment will follow at Salford Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lew's memory may be made to his grandchildren's school, Penn View Christian School, 420 Godshall Road, Souderton, PA 18964.
