Ruth P. Hoffman

RUTH HOFFMAN Ruth P. (Slabey) Hoffman, 87, of Worcester, passed away April 25, 2013. Formerly of Lower Gwynedd, she was a resident of Meadowood for the last 12 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Hoffman, in 2012. Born July 16, 1925 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Bedner) Slabey, and was a graduate of Philadelphia High School for Girls and Taylor Junior College. Mrs. Hoffman was formerly a member of Alpha Baptist Church and Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting. She was more recently a member of Central Schwenkfelder Church where she was active in the Potpourri Sunday School Class. She also attended the many bible studies at Meadowood and was active in many other affairs at Meadowood as well. Her life exemplified that of the faithful walk of a Christian. Ruth, an avid fan of Julia Child, entertained extensively for her husband's colleagues. As caregiver, she had the responsibility of caring for aging elderly parents. She and her husband traveled extensively during retirement, and for many years, summered in Maine. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and weaving. Surviving are two daughters, Robin H. Lohse of Souderton and Bonnie L. Hoffman-Adams and her husband, Jonathan, of Prineton, NJ; and five grandchildren, Gretchen, Nathan, Chrysostom, Reuben, and Michaela. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kevin Lohse; and a brother, John Slabey, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 10:30AM Monday, May 6, at Schultz Community Center, Meadowood, 3205 Skippack Pike, PO Box 670, Worcester, PA 19490, where family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15AM. Burial will be private at Garden of Memories.
