Obituary Condolences

ALBERT VIRGILIO Albert Virgilio, 87, of Lansdale, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of Joanne (Shoemaker) Virgilio, with whom he would have celebrated 62 years of marriage April 22. Born February 25, 1924 in Glen Mills, he was the son of the late Antonio and Ilta (Testone ) Virgilio. Albert moved to Lansdale with his family when he was three years old. He was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Parish. Albert attended the former Lansdale High School. As a young teenager, Albert worked with his father delivering coal and, during World War II, drove oil trucks and delivered steel for the war effort. In 1949, he began his employment at Lansdale Tube where he became a foreman. Albert then worked for a number of companies, including Philco Ford, Zenith, and RA Industries. Upon his retirement, he continued to work part-time at Hajoca in Lansdale. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Steven Virgilio and wife, Tammy, of Telford, Lynda Bedford of Harleysville, and Diane McNamara of North Wales. He will also be missed by his seven grandchildren, Sharon Thompson, Stephanie Virgilio, Alexiss and Angela Virgilio, Amanda Bedford, and Evan and Allison McNamara. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Mary Zebley and Teresa Famularo, both of Souderton, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Bitting and Rita Humphreys. The Funeral Service will be held 11AM Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. Relatives and friends may call after 10AM Tuesday. Burial will be private in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
