Obituary Condolences

BARRY BISHOP Barry S. Bishop, 67, of Bridgeport, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Nuss) Bishop, his wife of 45 years. Born September 17, 1944 in Lansdale, he was the son of Lillian (David) Bishop Seraika, of Lansdale, and the late W. Stanton Bishop. Barry graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Air Force where he managed a number of Officers' Clubs, including Terceira Island Officers' Club in the Azores. After returning to civilian life, Barry continued to work in the hospitality industry. His resume included associations with John Wanamaker, The News Stand Inc. in Philadelphia, and Vie De France which he opened and closed. He also enjoyed bartending at Mr. Ron's Publick House in East Norriton, and he was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Barniskis and husband, Michael, of West Chester; his son, Jeffrey S. Bishop of Hatboro; two grandchildren, Ian Barniskis and Ava Barniskis; and three sisters, Diane Charles of Lebanon, Dawn Bishop of Harleysville, and Molly Gampa and husband, John of Lansdale. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lisa; brother-in-law, Craig Charles; and his step-father, Martin Seraika. A viewing will be held between 6 and 8PM Thursday, March 8, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second viewing will begin 10AM Friday at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Service at 11AM. Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made in Barry's memory to Montgomery Home Care & Hospice, 25 W. Fornance St., Norristown, PA 19401.
