BERNARD YANACEK Bernard D. "Bernie" Yanacek, 79, of Hatfield, went to be with the Lord August 1, 2012. He was the husband of the late Dolores A. (Yasso) Yanacek, his wife of 39 years, who passed away in 1999. Born October 30, 1932 in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Rose (Zavish) Yanacek. After graduating from Coaldale High School in 1951, Bernie met and married his sweetheart, Dolores. Shortly after starting their family, the couple moved to Hatfield. Bernie then worked briefly for American Olean Tile and later was employed for over 25 years as a packaging operator for Merck, until his retirement. He was a long-time member of St. Maria Goretti Parish in Hatfield before and, more recently, became a member of Corpus Christi Parish in Lansdale. Bernie was known for his love of polishing his car and always had a Mercury or Lincoln that was in pristine condition. He enjoyed preparing holiday confections each year, which were enjoyed by his many family and friends at Christmas and Easter. Above all else, he will be remembered as a family man and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Joseph A. and his wife, Cynthia, of Harleysville, and Deborah Mayall and her husband, Michael, of New Albany; his grandchildren, Jeff, Brandi, Stephanie, Kimberly, Lillian, and Lindsey; and his great-grandchildren, Kourtney and Aubrey. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bernard D. Yanacek, Jr. Relatives and friends may call between 6 and 8PM Tuesday, August 7 at the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second visitation will begin 9AM Wednesday at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10AM. Interment will be in S.S. Cyril and Methodious Cemetery in Nesquehoning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernie's name to the , 150 Monument Rd., Ste. 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
