Charles F. Case Obituary
Charles F. Case, 100, of Lansdale, passed away January 13, 2012 at Abington Health - Lansdale Hospital. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie A. (Cohan) Case, who died in 2001. Born June 10, 1911 in Detroit, MI, Charles was the son of the late Charles F. and Elizabeth N. (Bird) Case. Charles attended West Philadelphia High School and graduated with the class of 1930. Mr. Case honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a signalman, and it was during this time he met his wife, Marjorie, at a USO party. After the war, Charles began his career working in a series of financial institutions in the Philadelphia area. He first worked for Greely and Co., then Moore, and eventually joined Hopper Soliday in 1982. Charles worked as a stock broker for a new firm, Philadelphia Corporation, until 2005, at which point he began working for Willow Financial. Mr. Case's passion for his work never ceased, and he continued to work until his final days. Charles is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Herbster of Blue Bell; a niece, Marcia C. Field and her husband, A. Kirk, of North Wales; a nephew, Richard S. Case and his wife, Mary Anne, of Marietta, GA; five great-nieces and nephews; and six great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Charles' life will be held at 1:30PM Wednesday, February 22, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, where the family will greet friends after 12:30PM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Case's memory to the Union League of Philadelphia, designated to The Abraham Lincoln Foundation, 140 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
