EUGENE MATTESON Eugene "Gene" Edward Matteson of Lansdale went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Sunday, October 6, 2013, after a long illness at the age of 80. Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane (Heiser) Matteson, a daughter, Melody Ruschmann of Lansdale and a son Keith Matteson, and his wife Dianne, of Doylestown. Other surviors include his grandchildren, Rachel Ruschmann, and her fianc Andrew Whetstone of North Wales, William Matteson and Katherine Matteson of Doylestown. In addition, he is survived by his siblings Lewis Matteson of Corinna, ME; Miriam Bennett, and Jeannette Black of Exeter, ME. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Etta Matteson and a brother Kenneth Matteson. Gene grew up on the family farm in Exeter, ME as his father was a farmer. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy. He then worked on the farm before serving in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, being stationed in Alaska. After his service, he attended Zion Bible Institute, formerly located in East Providence, RI, where he met his wife. Gene graduated in 1959 with a diploma in ministry, and he eventually moved to Pennsylvania to marry. He was employed for 35 years by Teleflex, Inc of Limerick, as a machine operator, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Pennridge Full Gospel Tabernacle in Blooming Glen. He also enjoyed attending services at the former Maranatha Assemby of God In Lansdale. His Funeral Service will be Thursday evening at 7PM at the William R. May Funeral Home, 142 N. Main St., North Wales. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home Thursday evening after 6PM. Interment will be Private. (www.mayfuneralhome.com)
