Obituary Condolences

GEORGE ZIMMERMAN George W. Zimmerman, 88 of Lansdale, died Saturday March 31, 2012 at Manor Care In Montgomeryville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Zimmerman. Born August 15, 1923 in Abington, is was the son of the late Harry A. and Anna (Clark) Zimmerman. He was a Army veteran of WWII, serving from 1943 to 1946 as a sharpshooter and earned a Purple Heart. He worked for 35 years as a Caretaker of estate in Abington, owned by William Balderston, who made bomb sights for the U.S Bombers. . He was a 35 year member of Faith Baptist Church in Sellersville, where he drove church bus and made visitations. He was a member of the American Legion in Hatfield. He loved spending time with his grandkids and playing golf. He is survived by a son, George W. Zimmerman, Jr. of Lansdale; two daughters, Carol Myers of East Greenville and Anna Lightner, of Slatington; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Joseph Zimmerman; a sister, Anna VanArtsdalen; and a good friend Brenda Kibler-Gross of Lansdale. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 10 at 11AM in the John R. Freed Funeral Home, 124 N Easton Road, Glenside. Visitation will be Tuesday April 10 from 10AM to 11AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer. In lieu of flowers contribution to the Faith Baptist Church, 700 N. Main St., Sellersville, PA 18960 would be appreciated.
