HERBERT KUHN, JR. Herbert W. Kuhn Jr., age 87, of Telford died peacefully at his residence February 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Kuhn was born July 14, 1924 in the Telford Hotel, which at the time was owned by his grandfather, John C Kuhn. He was the son of the late Herbert W. Kuhn Sr. and Kathryn Ziegler Kuhn and is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Polk) Kuhn. They were married 63 years. A proud lifetime resident of Telford, Mr. Kuhn graduated from Souderton Area High School and enrolled at Muhlenburg College. At that time, he was called to serve his country in World War II, where he was a medic with the 1st Marine Division in the South Pacific and China for 4 years. After returning home, he enlisted in the Naval Reserves, where he served during the Korean War for 2 years. Following his military service, Herbert returned home and attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. He then joined his father at their Buick and Oldsmobile dealership, which he operated until 1991 when he sold the dealership and retired. Herbert spent his early retirement years volunteering at the Grand View Hospital pharmacy. He served as president of the Souderton and Telford Kiwanis Club and was secretary of the Rail Lake Hunting and Fishing Club in Quebec, Canada. Mr. Kuhn was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and most recently of Little Zion Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Warren Royer Post 234 of Souderton and the Telford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5308. In addition to his wife, Marie, Mr. Kuhn is survived by his five daughters, Donna and her husband, Phil Goshow, Debbie and her husband, David Bitner, Diane and her husband, Ralph Saccoman, Denise and her husband, David Mahon and Doreen and her husband, Duane Reinford. Herbert was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Lainie Yerk, Tara Zepp, Douglas Goshow, Joshua and Daniel Bitner, Ana and Michael Saccoman, Laura Kehs, Corbin, Landon, and Dalton Reinford, as well as nine great-grandchildren. He will be missed for his kind heart as well as lending his ear, never too busy to listen to his friends and cheer everyone up with his great sense of humor. Herbert loved the outdoors and for over fifty years he vacationed with his family in Quebec were he could be seen riding his snowmobile or four wheelers, fishing out on the lakes or simply enjoying the serenity of the cabin. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 5PM Sunday Feb. 26 at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, where friends may call on the family from 3 to 5PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Ave. Sellersville, PA 18960.
