In Loving Memory of Howard T. Crown, Sr. who passed away on February 26, 2013.

Still missed and fondly remembered. Was recently told of the time that after climbing a fence to get to a shed roof so him and his brothers could get into a Park, it was the Paratrooper that jumped off the roof of the shed and got his foot stuck in a bucket. Oh the ribbing he must have taken........lol

Howard was a tremendous oral historian. I would appreciate hearing from a family member re: whether any of his notes remain that could be utilized in the work of an historian working to ensure that the Irish history of the MM's in PA is accurate and freed from the 'fake news' used to portray them in books.

My sincere condolences to the entire Crown family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. My fondest memories of Uncle Howard will always be from the Crown family picnics when, while playing the annual pick-up football games. He would come in to the huddles and give us the play for that down. He would always say " go out there, and kick em in the fanny" ...... God bless you all.

As a volunteer with the Schuylkill County Historical Society, Howard helped me so much with my genealogical research. Many times he went out of his way to help me, and I was pleased to count him as a friend. His dedication - and sense of humor - was an inspiration. The coal region owes him a debt of gratitude for all he has unearthed of its heritage. His death is a great loss to Schuylkill County. My heartfelt sympathy to his family.

We remember Howard mostly from the Jersey picnics on those hot August days with all of the Crown, Lengyel and Brueckner families.
Please, accept our sincere sympathy.

Sincerest condolences to the Crown Family. Howard was a true scholar who generously shared his findings with others. My graduate students from IUP and I cherish the time we spent with him making an oral history video of his encyclopedic knowledge of the Molly Maguires.
