Obituary Condolences

HULDA PANDOLFO Hulda (Magnusdottir) Pandolfo, 91, of Lansdale ended her earthly journey Thursday morning, January 31, 2013. Born in Reykjavik, Iceland, December 8, 1921 to the late Magnus and Guthrun Gislason. She met and eventually married Joseph Pandolfo, a G.I. stationed at Keflavik, Iceland during the Anglo-American occupation of WWII. When she met Joe, he led a small jazz band that played dance music at the base and he became the love of her life until his death on Christmas Day, 1980. In 1946, Hulda flew to the USA along with her one year old son, Christopher via military transport and they became U.S. citizens. She quickly adapted to American life, language, and cooking style with help from Joe's Italian family in Philadelphia. She later became an assistant cook at Stouffers restaurant in downtown Philadelphia. She maintained her Nordic heritage as an active member of the Leif Ericson Society. Aside from her son Chris, she is survived by sons, Joseph and Michael Pandolfo; daughter, Delores Bucca; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in Iceland, Denmark, and Holland. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Saturday, February 2 at 10AM at the Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home, 532 E. Main St., Lansdale, where the family will receive friends from 9 to 10 AM before the service. Interment will be private.
