JEAN FISCHER Jean Caroline Fischer, 83, of Lansdale, passed away of cancer, Friday, May 10, 2013, at Gwynedd Square Nursing Home, Lansdale. Born December 4, 1929 in Lansdale, Jean was the daughter of the late John M. Fischer Sr. and Elizabeth G. (Detweiler) Fischer. Jean was an active 55 year member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lansdale, where she also served on the board. During her career she worked for American Olean Tile and later was employed as a cashier for Ralph's Market which later became Clemens, until her retirement in 1999. Jean spent much of her time volunteering during her retirement, helping Manna on Main St. in Lansdale, Norristown State Hospital, and Midtown Parish in Philadelphia. Surviving are her daughter, Yvonne M. Fischer-Aein and her husband, Michael Aein, of Columbia, MD; her grandchildren, Felicia and Jolie; her sister, Bette Hunter and her husband, Robert, of Hatfield; her brother, Daniel B. Fischer and his wife, Madeline, of Harleysville; and her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her half-sister, Dorothy Cassel; brothers, John M. Jr. and Richard Fischer; and her sister, Ruth D. Roelofs. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jean's viewing Thursday, May 16, from 10 to 11AM at Christ United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Valley Forge Rd. Lansdale, where her funeral service will begin at 11AM. Interment will follow at Lansdale Cemetery, Broad St and Whites Rd. Lansdale. A luncheon reception will follow at Christ United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's name to the or to the Red Bird Mission at 70 Queendale Center, Beverly, KY 40913-9607.
