REV. JOHN LIGHT The Rev. John Miller Light died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Wernersville. Born September 5, 1919 in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Frederick W. and Margaretta (Miller) Light. He was a graduate of Easton High School, Lafayette College and Lancaster Theological Seminary. Ordained to ministry in the Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1944, he was a delegate to the Unitting General Synod that gave birth to the United Church of Christ in 1957. He served as pastor in the Orangeville Charge (E&R), the Line Mountain Charge (E&R), St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Taylor, and Heidelberg United Church of Christ in Hatfield, where he was named pastor emeritus. He was an accomplished pianist. Upon retirement he moved to Lancaster, then relocated to the Phoebe Berks Village in 1999. He was married to Mary (Baum) Light for 60 years. He is survived by three children, Frederick H. Light, wife, Sandra F. Walis, Thomas C. Light, wife Vallerie S. Light, and Nancy Light Hardy, husband, Richard Hardy; as well as five granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Frederick W. Light, Jr. of Jonestown and Asaph S. Light of Lancaster. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 17, at 11AM at Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 1101 Cowpath Road, Hatfield, PA 19440.
