Obituary Condolences

JOHN COX John W. Cox, 88, passed away January 27, 2012 in Peter Becker Community, where he lived since 2006. His beloved wife of over 56 years, Jeanne (McConnell) Cox, died in 2004. The couple were former long time residents of Montgomery Twp., where John was affectionately known as the "Mayor of South Drive". Born in Narberth, he was the son of the late S. E. Cox and Sarah E. (Denton) Cox. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the South Pacific during WWII and, after that, graduated with a degree in accounting from Temple University. For many years Mr. Cox was employed in Human Resources at the former AEL in Montgomery Twp. Later, he worked as a consultant, until retiring. He and his wife were long time, active and faithful members of Supplee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Maple Glen. Surviving is a brother, Edward D. Cox, of Springfield Twp., Delaware County and three generations of nieces and nephews. Former Montgomery Twp. neighbors who were like extended family, fondly remember many times spent with John and Jeanne, celebrating special occasions and holidays. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Young and Alice McAdams; and a niece, Jean Denton. Relatives and friends may greet the family in the Chapel of the Peter Becker Community, 800 Maple Avenue, Harleysville, PA 19438 Tuesday, Jan. 31, after 12:30 PM and are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 1PM. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund, address above. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
