Kenneth L. Musselman Obituary
KENNETH MUSSELMAN Kenneth L. Musselman, 88, of Perkasie and formerly of Reading, died Wednesday evening, June 12, 2013, peacefully at his home. He was the loving husband of Kathleen R. (Beaver) Musselman who preceded him in death in 1999. Born in Telford, he was the son of the late Erwin and Luella (Oberholtzer) Musselman. A 1942 graduate of Souderton High School, Souderton, he attained his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1949. Staff Sergeant Musselman served with distinction in the Army during World War II with the 116th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Division, having been stationed in France and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Musselman started his elementary school teaching career at Franconia Elementary School, but spent the majority of his teaching career in the Reading School District where he retired in 1980. After retiring from teaching, he worked for the County of Berks installing and removing election booths. He was very active in youth sports. He coached swimming for many years in Reading and, more recently, he was a volunteer swimming instructor at the Indian Valley YMCA, Harleysville. He also enjoyed fishing. Surviving are a son, Scott K. Musselman, of Dallastown; a daughter, Susan C. Hazel and her husband, W. Scott, of Perkasie; a granddaughter, Sarah Hazel, of Chapel Hill, NC; and two sisters, Millicent Trauger, of Telford and Joyce Jones, of Quakertown. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Indian Valley YMCA, 890 Maple Avenue, Harleysville, PA 19438. Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
