LORETTA LANDES Loretta S. Landes, 84, passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2011, at Grand View Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray P. Landes, M.D., in June of this year. Residents of Peter Becker Community in Harleysville for the last 15 years, they had formerly resided in Souderton. Born January 3, 1927 in Creamery, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ella Mae (Swartley) Landes. She was a graduate of the former Hilltown High School and attended Lansdale School of Business. She assisted her husband in the office of his medical practice in Souderton. Mrs. Landes was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a dedicated volunteer at Grand View Hospital. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are three children, Bonnie, wife of J. Robert Milnes, R. Scott Landes, husband of Gail Stover, and Rhonda, wife of Gene Moyer; seven grandchildren, Marc and Kevin Milnes, Benjamin, Zachary, and Chelsea Landes, and Adam and Amanda Moyer; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Milnes. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Murray Landes. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 7:30PM Thursday, Dec. 29, at Zion Mennonite Church, 149 Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964, where family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7PM. Burial will be private at Zion Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the church (address above) or to Peter Becker Community, 800 Maple Ave., Harleysville, PA 19438.
