Obituary Condolences

MARJORIE KOCH Marjorie Grace Thomas Koch of Chestertown, MD, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Heron Point. She was 95. Mrs. Koch was born on Grand Street in Susquehanna, June 24, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Claire Culver Thomas. The family moved to Center Square, Montgomery County, PA in 1932. She graduated with honors from Whitpain Township High School, Blue Bell, in 1935. In 1937, she married Mahlon William "Jim" Francis of Blue Bell, who served with the United States Army in World War II during the Battle of the Bulge. He predeceased her in March of 1962. In March 1965, Mrs. Francis married Edward Koch, Sr. of North Wales where they resided until 1991 when they moved to Heron Point, Chestertown, MD, where they lived until his death in March 1994. Mrs. Koch has continued to live at Heron Point since that time. A water color artist of note, Mrs. Koch had served as a volunteer aide at Chester River Hospital Center, formerly Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital in Chestertown for several years. She is survived by her daughter, Dona Frantz and husband, Roger, of Topton; her son, Ronald Francis and wife, Linda, of Chesapeake City, MD; a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Bancroft of South Sterling; grandsons, Scott B. Haines of Schwenksville, James T. Haines of Sellersville, and John A. Haines of Jim Thorpe; granddaughters, Connie Francis of Claymont, DE, Christine Melvin of Cochranton and Susan Francis of Stevensville, MD; an aunt, Mary Thomas of Endwell, NY; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-son, Edward Koch of Clarmont, FL; her step-daughter, Karen Heebner of Jim Thorpe; as well as several step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a step-son, Terry Koch. A memorial service will be held Jan. 5, at 2PM at Heron Point-Wesley Hall. Interment will be private in Bethel Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Hallman-Haines Foundation for Autism and Spina Bifida 210 Green Top Road Sellersville, PA 18960.
